Veterans Memorial Ceremony
November 11, 2017
On Veterans Day, from 2-3pm, the Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial Ceremony will honor Jacqueline Cochran, a pioneer in the field of American aviation. A distinguished Air Force aviator, she held more speed, altitude, and distance records than any other pilot in the world, male or female, when she passed in 1980. The ceremony, free and open to the public, will feature keynote speaker Bonnie J. Dunbar, NASA astronaut, professor of aerospace engineering at Texas A&M, and former president and CEO of the Museum of Flight. Reverend Bear Ride, sister of astronaut Sally Ride, will deliver the invocation with the Marine Band San Diego and Marine Corps Recruit Depot Color Guard. Old Town Trolley will provide complimentary shuttle service from the Mt. Soledad Presbyterian Church parking lot, as well as from the French American School. 858.459.2314, soledadmemorial.com
