Highlights From The Past Year

By Roblee Valentine

Rancho Santa Fe’s Shining Equestrian Stars — In the Amateur Hunter/Jumper category, our Annie Tame’s seven-year-old Belgian Warmblood, Volero, with Michelle Parker in the irons, laid down the only quadruple clear to win the Blenheim EquiSports Seven-Year-Old Jumper Finals. This special gelding was imported from Belgium in 2014 by Michelle Parker as a six-year-old, and has a bright future ahead.

Professional Show Jumper Eduardo Menezes, who rides for his native Brazil, has a laser focus on the 2016 Olympics in Rio, and his consistent placings in 2015 grand prix events have furthered that ambition. Menezes has crossed the continent, piling success upon success. Among them was a ninth overall finish in the Pan American Games, and a huge, nail-biting victory for Team Brazil in the BMO Nations Cup.

Junior rider Grady Lyman has wrapped up her last year in the 14-and-under division with resounding success. After a championship win in the CPHA Junior Equitation Finals, she went on to clinch the overall win in the 2015 PCHA Medal Finals. There are sure to be more medals in the future for our Santaluz student as she sets her sights on the ASPCA Maclay Regionals, the Pennsylvania National, and the National Horse Show in Kentucky.

Breeder Carlos Fernandez raises top-quality Hanoverians in Rancho Santa Fe, and has recently purchased the beautiful Barcelona Farm. One of his 2015 foals, Grey C Top, received the designation of Top Filly, awarded to only one filly per year, and written into her permanent registration papers.  To be registered at all, a foal must, in its first year, pass rigorous pedigree standards and an onsite inspection by a representative of the Hanoverian Society. Clearly, Grey C Top excelled in all categories!

Congratulations to our 2015 Shining Stars! Looking forward to what 2016 has in store!
