Brazilian-born designer Carla Manuel has just launched Kites boutique in the Cedros Design District. The shop offers a casually chic collection of one-of-a-kind women’s fashions for all occasions, whether browsing a farmers’ market or strolling the red carpet. Described as “playful and sexy, yet elegant and unique,” the clothing styles are all handmade in such soft, sumptuous fabrics as silk, linen, and even lamé. Manuel, a former boutique owner in Los Angeles, provided designs for L.A.’s Fred Segal and Del Mar’s Matti D.
