Art of Élan Benefit Concert
June 17, 2017
Ten years ago, two young San Diego Symphony musicians, Kate Hatmaker and Demarre McGill, had an idea for a way to expose new audiences to the excitement of classical music. Based on the idea of innovative “mixtape” programming that would combine both new and old works, Art of Élan created a model of short, one-hour concerts in unique venues, providing for a more personalized and human approach to connecting with concertgoers. Now, a decade later, supporters will gather for a one-night-only celebration at Qualcomm Hall featuring the return of co-founder Demarre McGill and The Myriad Trio performing the world premiere of an Art of Élan commissioned work by Israeli-born composer Avner Dorman. artofelan.org
